Tara River Canyon is one of the deepest river canyons in Europe. It is protected as a part of Durmitor National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The canyon is also the 2nd largest in the world, following Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA.
The canyon is around 1,300 meters (4,300 feet) deep.
The canyon stretches from near Bistrica in Montenegro to Hum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, over 82 kilometres (51 miles).
The last 36 kilometres create the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
The best place to view the Tara River Canyon is Ćurevac Point.
