Samuel's Fortress - One visit
Best view from Samuel's Fortress in Ohrid dates from antique historian Livy from 209 BC. Ohrid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth-largest city in Macedonia.
The 360-degree views of the village, lake, and mountains are beautiful, and they are only 10 minutes from the old town; the fortress rises 100 meters above the lake's level.
The fortress is quite dilapidated. Therefore, climbing all the small stairs, some of which are withering away, can be unsafe.
There is a small entrance fee, 60 Denar each (€1) and 1-hour maximum to explore.
The beautiful fortress can be seen from most city areas as you roam around, always providing a fantastic view, especially with the high Macedonian flag.
Be sure to include the Old Ancient Theatre and Church of Saints Clement and Panteleimon in your walking tour. They are all 10 minutes from each other, have wonderful views of Ohrid, and are full of rich history.
I'm on my 103rd time around!
209 BC ... now you're talking my era!!! Love the light you two keep shining.
