Kotor - Four Nights
Kotor is an old town on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen.
Its charm is the winding streets and squares in the medieval old town, which also has several Romanesque churches, including Kotor Cathedral. The surrounding views of the fjords and fortress are beautiful.
It's probably not worth staying overnight (being located in the Gulf of Kotor there are only about 5 hours of sunshine a day), and to be honest, the shops are all selling fake designer fashion, bags, and shoes. This wasn't very pleasant and lowered our experience of the old town. We visited just after tourist season, and most of the hotels and restaurants were closed due to the pandemic.
After travelling Croatia and being spoilt by Rovinj, the most magical old town, pristinely clean and maintained, full of life, a strong community, fantastic food and views of the Adriatic Sea, you would be better to enjoy the other delights of Montenegro.
Just feels a bit soulless; unfortunately, the current times have impacted Kotor Old town dramatically.
