Cetinje

Updated: 2 days ago

It is the former royal capital of Montenegro and the location of several national institutions, including the official residence of the president.

The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography.

Cetinje, founded in the 15th century, became a cradle of Montenegro's culture and a Serbian Orthodox religious centre. Its status as the honorary capital of Montenegro is due to its heritage as a long-serving former capital.

There are plenty of places to explore, and we stay in a fantastic new five-star hotel, Gradska Cetinje.
